Bryen was one of the artists whose prints were frequently published by La Guilde de la Gravure and later by L'Oeuvre Gravée. He was a painter, print maker, poet and critic. His non-figurative work, bordering on surrealism was much sought after as he was a prominent artist of the Ecole de Paris
