Wallace was born in Somerset and studied at the Liverpool College of Art, at the Royal Academy Schools and the Royal College of art. He became a sculptor of large figure in metal and in 1973 was awarded the Sainsbury Prize for Sculpture. There are many commissioned large works by him in various venues in Britain and he also has a large followeing for his smaller interior sculptures. His print oeuvre is very small, confined to strong etchingsin black and white
