an unsigned proof of the state before the addition of two stages of screenprinting of Hamilton's most renowned graphic work, on white Schoeller Elfenbein-Karton paper with full very wide margins in perfect condition

'I'm dreaming of a black Christmas' is the second version of the print Hamilton made after his 1967/8 painting of the same name; the first was the screenprint 'I'm dreaming of a white Christmas', made in 1967; for 'Black Christmas he used the negative of a photograph of the screenprint, which of course reversed the colours and from this the collotype was produced, printed by Hamilton at Eberhard Schreiber, Stuttgart; for the final version of the print screenprinting was added at two other German print studios |
