issued in PAN 1897, Volume 3 Nicholson was invited to provide a print for PAN and he sent the woodcut he had originally designed as 'G for Gipsy' for his Alphabet series, but not used ('G for Gentleman' was used instead); he removed the G from the block and retitled it 'Old Woman' ; in PAN the title was 'Alte Frau'
The art magazine PAN was published between 1895 and 1900. It was the first German de-luxe art journal to be published with original graphics conceived as individual works of art. The printing was of a very high standard, and fine paper was used through. |
